Bheemeshwari Nature Camp – One Day Trip from Bangalore

Bheemeswhari Nature Camp, an idyllic facility located within the confines of Cauvery Wildlife Sanctuary, is one of the popular choices among travel enthusiasts and families for a one-day outing. Situated at about 100 km from Bangalore and 90 km from Mysore, this place is covered with a lush green forest that is a habitat for a variety of flora and fauna. The Cauvery river flowing through the forest adds to the peace and tranquillity of the surroundings. Originally a fishing camp famous for Mahseer fishing, the Bheemeshwari Nature camp now functions only as a resort providing many adventure activities like Burma Loop, Parallel Walk, Coracle Ride, Kayaking, Zip lining, Hiking, etc. Those who are not adventure enthusiasts can opt to stroll along the banks of river Cauvery which flows right along the boundaries of the camp or laze around on the swings and hammocks outside the cottages. The tourists can book Night Packages which includes food, adventure activities and overnight stay in selected accommodation type (Log hut, Cottage or Tents) or Day Packages that includes food and adventure activities only. Though not sumptuous, food options are decent and sufficient to satisfy the hunger pangs. Evening barbeque and campfire are good. Early morning trek to the nearby hill is refreshing and the view from the watchtower is mesmerizing. The staff in the camp are friendly and trustworthy. Devoid of any mobile phone connectivity, TV, newspapers, or internet, this place guarantees quality time in the laps of nature away from the humdrum of city life. Overall, Bheemeshwari Nature camp is a good place for a short getaway along with friends and family.

Travel Tips

  • Google Map direction to the camp is accurate. It is recommended to take the Halagur route. The road leading up to the camp is in immaculate condition (at the time of writing this article).
  • There are no restaurants or eateries on the way to the camp after you cross Halagur. Hence it is advisable to stack up eatables and snacks for the trip should you feel hungry on the way.
  • Accommodation types available in the facility are Log huts, Tents, and Cottages. It is recommended to opt for the Log huts as these are located near the Golghar (restaurant) and face the river Cauvery. Tents and cottages are near the reception area and away from the river.
  • The rooms are all neat and clean. The Log huts can easily accommodate 3 adults and two kids. Though sanitization of rooms is done diligently by housekeeping, it is always advisable to carry your own sanitizers and wear masks as the place remains crowded during weekends.
  • There is no mobile signal in the area. So be prepared to remain cut off from the rest of the world once you enter the camp.
  • There is no ATM and no provision for any card payment in the camp. So, you need to carry enough cash should you require to make payment for any additional activity which is not included in the package. It is better to check the package inclusions before booking and accordingly make an advance payment.
  • There is no intercom in the rooms and no room service is available except for morning tea which is served in the room between 6:00 AM to 6:30 AM.
  • Though drinking water is supplied in Jug in each room, it is advisable to carry additional drinking water bottles with you to avoid running out of it in the middle of the night.
  • If you need to contact the camp staff at night in case of any emergency, then the only option available is to walk all the way up to the reception building in the wilderness. So, it is advisable to stack up a torchlight for your trip.
  • Insect repellent cream and water-resistant footwear are must-haves.
  • Alcohol consumption is allowed in the camp, but the tourists need to carry their own liquor. However, ensure to call and check with the Jungle Lodges office about alcohol consumption rules in the camp before traveling.
  • Do not venture into the river all alone or play in the water as the place has a large crocodile population.
  • The trees around the camp are home to a big colony of monkeys. Hence ensure not to leave any belongings outside the rooms as there is every likelihood of the stuff being picked up by these simians. Always keep the doors of the rooms locked.
  • As it is a nature camp, please do not litter or dump any kind of garbage within the premises.
